Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at the University
of Washington starting preferably on July 1, 2005, and no later than Sep 1,
2005, for the duration of three years, pending continuing funding. The
responsibilities of this position include work on critical research issues
related to the design and construction of image processing pipeline for the
Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (www.lsst.org). The successful applicant
will be a part of the U.W. LSST design and development group which includes
Zeljko Ivezic, Andrew Becker, Suzanne Hawley and Russell Owen, and operates
in a close collaboration with LSST research groups led by Chris Stubbs at
Harvard University, Robert Lupton at Princeton University, and John 
Haggerty
at Brookhaven National Laboratory. At a minimum, applicants must have a 
Ph.D.
in Astronomy or a closely related field. Experience with image processing,
analysis of large data sets, and computer science applications in astronomy
is preferred, but not necessary.

goals, and accomplishments; a curriculum vitae; bibliography; and the names
of three people who will send a letter of reference directly to the
Department. Priority will be given to complete applications (with letters)
received by March 15, 2005. Documents will be accepted electronically in
pdf format sent to  office@astro.washington.edu, with subject line "LSST
