Hi all,
GRB 981226 provides strong confirmation of the theory that GRBs prefer
the holiday season but is rather poorly placed for observation from
APO at RA=23.5 h DEC=-24 deg. However, it would be possible to get moderate
air mass images at the very beginning of the night (with the moon up and
getting brighter over the next few nights).
Observations were not attempted tonight (12/26) for several reasons: A late
start on preparations, a protected scheduled program (critical thesis
observations) and very poor weather and seeing conditions at APO.
If there is any enthusiasm for trying it tomorrow (Sunday, 12/27) night, please
let me know ASAP.
