ANNOUNCEMENT

10-Year Anniversary Celebration of the ARC 3.5-meter Telescope

We are fast approaching the 10-year anniversary of the dedication of
the ARC 3.5-meter telescope. To celebrate this event, we are
planning a symposium with invited and contributed lectures, plus
poster papers, to highlight the many scientific accomplishments of
the telescope, and an open house and tours of the observatory. These
events will take place on May 27-28, 2004, at the Astronomy and
Visitors Center at Sunspot and at Apache Point Observatory. Besides
being nearly exactly ten years since the telescope was dedicated,
these dates were chosen to dovetail with the upcoming AAS meetings in
Colorado, so that participants could attend both events in one trip.

This announcement is intended to provide an early alert to our user
community and other friends. Further details will be forthcoming; in
the meantime you may direct questions to the undersigned, or to Bruce
Gillespie at APO (gillespi@apo.nmsu.edu)
