All: The fire near APO, called the Scott Able fire, is ending its third day and seems to be close to under control--we may have dodged this bullet although many people have suffered serious property losses. Easterly winds Friday night and Saturday posed a threat to us in that the fire could have been rekindled near its origin and begin heading toward APO and NSO Sunspot. This didn't happen and the fire breaks held. The winds have subsided today and several hundred firefighters are continuing the containment activities, now said to be at 50%. The fire will probably burn and smolder for many days yet, causing continued smoke and ash problems in the area.
