Many thanks to Gene for compiling this list. In terms of comparison to
other telescopes, the fairest comparison would be to facilities operated
by universities or university consortia with a user pool comparable to
ours (rather than to telescopes operated by national or international
observatories, which have far larger user communities). Examples would
include the Hiltner Telescope of the Michigan-MIT-Dartmouth consortium,
the MMT, the WIYN telescope (Wisconsin, Indiana, and Yale users
only). I realize that documenting these facilities would take some work
(and am not `volunteering' Gene for the task!). Just a caveat....
