ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 1st QUARTER 2011

NOTES: ***PLEASE READ***
Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise
(a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled
in half night blocks.
There are 90 nights, or 180 half nights, in 1Q2011. Scheduled
engineering (routine EN01) time consists of 5 nights, or 10 half
nights, all bright. EN02 time for the GFP upgrade has 2 half nights.
Engineering in total takes 12 half nights, or 6.7% of the observing
time. The DD time consists of 12 half nights, schedules as 5B,
2G, 5D. Computing 180 - 12 - 12 leaves 156 half nights for allocation
by the institutions, which break down as 57B, 28G and 71D.
In addition to scheduled engineering time, science observations
may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for
urgent engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that
is required to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities
and that allows "hot pursuit" of some significant problem.
