In order to complete the extensive engineering work on the 3.5-meter
optics, telescope mechanisms and enclosure planned for the December
1996 shutdown, it has become necessary to extend the shutdown through
the end of the month. Thus, all scheduled science programs for the
nights of Dec. 21 - 31, inclusive, are canceled (as per the warning
sent on Nov. 22 of this possibility).
This message is intended to reach all PIs and observers for programs
canceled and all institutional schedulers. Schedulers, please check
to see if anyone from your institution has been inadvertently omitted,
and if so, please inform them.
An account of the work accomplished during this shutdown will be
posted on the apo35-general mail exploder at a later date.
