Unix users of TUI must be careful about updating pyfits, as I just discovered.

If you are using TUI 1.3 and you install pyfits 1.1 (which is
required to run TUI 1.4 prerelease) then you must define the
following environment variable before running TUI 1.3:
   NUMERIX = numarray
otherwise TUI 1.3 will not display slitviewer images.

I strongly recommend that you define this environment variable as
part of starting up TUI 1.3. It must NOT be defined to run TUI 1.4 --
or must be set to numpy.

I have fixed the tui at UW (in /net/tui). Also UW users should note
that the prerelease 1.4 is available by typing "tuibeta".
