The versions of Athena available from this page are developmental and have limited capabilities (ideal MHD or hydrodynamics on a fixed Cartesian grid). Moreover, these versions have the following known "features":

• Intermediate waves converge at first order with the HLLE fluxes. Use the Roe flux (or the HLLC flux for hydro) for second-order convergence of all waves.
• There is no explicit numerical viscosity of any kind added to the fluxes, so that the solutions suffer from the carbuncle problem for very strong, planar, grid-aligned shocks in two-dimensions.
• The C version is the main, developmental version. Thus, the F90 version is cleaner and probably easier to understand.

Finally, these versions may contain bugs that have been identified and fixed in the main CVS development trunk, but not in these versions.
