Computing in Peyton Hall
The Department hosts several powerful computer clusters as well
as a large number of workstations and access to large astronomical
data bases such as the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. The operating system used is
Linux, and papers are written with Tex/LaTex. Two introductory
tutorials are accessible at the links below, as are tutorials for
various analysis software packages, such as SM and IDL.
Introduction to the Peyton Hall computer system
Tutorial in the Xwindow system
Much plotting, display and analysis is done with a package called SM.
