Greetings all, I am just joining in on this discussion. I find this discussion very interesting and relevant to the LSST. A question that may need answering is this: Would an astreroid impact penetrate deep enough for the body to impact the ocean bottom? If so then the waves generated would be a mix of a deep ocean tsunami, caused by the seismic event of the impact on ocean bottom, and short wavelength waves, caused from dissipation of energy into the ocean water. Thus for an acurate estimate of shore damage potential both wave types need to be considered. In what porportion is also an interesting question.
