Hello all,
Just so that everyone is on the same page, here is some of the
feedback I got from people to my posting a few days ago (lsst-general
#171) about progress in writing sections of the DRM:

Al Harris tells me that he hopes to revise the NEO section by the
end of the month, using material from the now-public NASA report on
the NEO hazard. The work with Ted Bowell on observing strategy and
fraction of NEA's recovered is not going to be finished by the end of
this month, and so the section will just outline the work that has
been done, and indicate what remains to be done.

Al points out that I oversimplified and somewhat mis-stated the
conclusions of the NASA report in my e-mail. In any case, we do need
to address what they say carefully; Zeljko Ivezic has offered to make
a first stab at that.

Gary Bernstein is going to do a bit of touch-up to the KBO writeup,
and include a few figures.

Knut Olsen had already started a rewrite and expansion of the
section on Galactic and stellar astronomy. He and Dave Monet will
rework it further and incorporate my various suggestions. Dennis
Zaritsky has answered some of my specific questions; Knut and Dave,
I'll forward you what he wrote in a bit.

Peter Garnavich has written me, saying that he agrees with the
concern that SN science requires extensive spectroscopic follow-up,
and is thinking about how to pitch this.

Tony Tyson told me that there are recent theoretical developments
(the details of which I remain a bit unclear on) on the weak lensing
front, which demonstrate that LSST may be even more influential than
previously thought. He hopes to get me a writeup on this very soon.

Tony has also sent me a brief outline/chart of his take on the
relationship between science goals, requirements on the data, and
concomitant requirements on the hardware; we will probably include a
similar-structured chart in the DRM.

Andy Connolly promises me a writeup soon on data management issues.

And that's what I've got to date. The rest of you I haven't heard
from yet...

				Thanks, Michael
