Hello all,
  As you know, we will have a Science Working Group meeting this
Friday, starting at 2 PM Eastern Time.  I have heard from only a few
of you whether you will be able to take part; for the rest of you,
please let me know!

  There is really only one agenda item, namely a discussion of where
the various science writeups started at the Tucson meeting stand.  The
lsst-general mailing list has been fairly quiet on this front; I was
very much hoping that it would be full of discussions over this last
month as these writeups were put together.  An important part of these
writeups is a discussion of what an ideal observing plan/cadence would
be for the scientific goal, as well as an assessment of the extent to
which a nominal strawman observing plan, would allow the science goals
to be met.  I urge you all to reread the first part of the <a
href=http://www.astro.princeton.edu/~dss/LSST/lsst-general/msg.102.html>minutes</a>
of the Tucson meeting, to remind you of the details.  One suggestion
which came up in Tucson, and which I liked a lot, was from Chris: for
each science goal, it is possible to come up with a figure of merit
for a telescope/instrument/cadence observing system, involving
aperture, filter choice, seeing, photometricity, and many other
ingredients; it would be very good for each of the science subgroups
to see if this can be quantified for their science.
