Simulating far-IR field to test source detection algorithm
We developed an algorithm (in IDL) to simulate far-IR fields. The algorithm is constructed to test the source detection program in use at the IFSI (Institute of Spatial and Interplanetary Physics) for the data analysis of images from the Herschel satellite (a program for the source extraction for the far-infrared and sub-millimeter continuum in the presence of complex backgrounds).
The work was done at INAF (Italian National Institut ofAstrophysics) and CNR (Italian National Council of Research), under the supervision of S. Molinari (PI of Herschel infrared Galactic Plane Survey) and F. Faustini and in collaboration with M. Mariano and R. Fazioli.
