ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 1st QUARTER 2006
S.Hawley, R.McMillan 1/30/06
NOTES: ***PLEASE READ***
1/30/06: implemented time trades, assigned OPEN and DD time.
There is no OPEN or DD time remaining in the 1/30/06 version
of the schedule.
12/27/05: implemented time trades, assigned some OPEN and DD
time. There are 3 half-nights of unallocated DD time (DD06)
and 4 half-nights of OPEN time in the 12/27/05 version of
the schedule. Users requesting OPEN time in March should
be aware that DIS will be unavailable during that time.
Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise
(a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled
in half night blocks.
There are 90 nights, or 180 half nights, in 1Q2006. Scheduled
engineering consists of 13 half nights of routine EN01 time,
which is 7.2% of the total. DD time consists of 13 half
nights, which is also 7.2% of the total. The DD half nights
include time for APOLLO, CORMASS/UVa, and discretionary
time for the Director.
In addition to scheduled engineering time, science observations
may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for urgent
engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that is required
to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities and that allows
"hot pursuit" of some significant problem.
Please see links off of the APO home page
(http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/)
for a web based interactive version of this schedule.
There are 5 half-nights of unscheduled DD time (DD04) and
5 half-nights of OPEN time in the 12/11/05 version of the
schedule. Users requesting OPEN time in March should be
aware that DIS will be undergoing engineering upgrades and
will not be available for scheduled observations on those
dates.

MOST PROGRAMS ARE SCHEDULED IN HALF NIGHT BLOCKS. THE FIRST
HALF OF EACH NIGHT EXTENDS FROM SUNSET UNTIL 0010 MST. THE
SECOND HALF FOLLOWS UNTIL SUNRISE.
FIRST HALF IS INDICATED BELOW AS "A"; THE SECOND, AS "B".
THIS QUARTER FOUR PROGRAMS USE NON-BLOCK SCHEDULING.
INSTRUMENT CHANGE TIMES ARE NOT INCLUDED BELOW BUT WILL BE INDICATED
IN THE SCHEDULE ISSUED FROM APO AND WILL BE SHARED BETWEEN ADJOINING
PROGRAMS AS USUAL.
