In all future quarters, please specify DIS grating configurations
*explicitly* in terms of both color (R and B) and dispersion (L, M or H
for low, medium or high). So, a typical configuration might look like
RM+BL or RH+BH. The use of "nicknames" such as "low" (which has been used
by some to mean RM+BL) or "set #1" can be confusing and is needlessly
ambiguous. Changing DIS gratings, especially during the night, is not a
quick or easy job and a miscommunication on this issue can easily lead to
lost observing time.
For 4Q2003 programs, if you have not designated your DIS grating
preferences explicitly, as per the above, please inform the relevant OS by
email at least 48 hrs before your scheduled observations.
