The deadline for 4Q2003 observing requests will be approximately 1 week
earlier than it would have been on our normal scheduling pattern.

Institutional schedulers should send their requests to me by AUGUST 22; it
will not be possible to give significant extentions beyond that date. (On
our usual pattern the deadline would have been the end of the month with a
couple of days "grace period".)

In order to accommodate this earlier deadline, it will probably be
necessary to advance the schedule of proposal deadlines, TAC meetings and
so forth at most or all institutions. Thus, the change is being announced
well in advance and distributed to User Cmte members and apo35-general as
well as schedulers, just to make sure no one is caught by surprise.

I will also endeavor to send out the institutional allocations earlier
than normal.

Thanks for your help,

Ed Turner
