REVISED ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 2ND QUARTER 2003

NOTES: ***PLEASE READ***
5/22/03 NOTE - Changes on 5/23, 5/28, 6/13 and 6/15 only. 6/15A
is still listed as OPEN but is in fact taken by one program or
another.
5/5/03 NOTE - Various trades and "pay backs" are recorded in this
revised schedule. Also, the night of June 15 (both halves) has been
declared OPEN. Anyone wishing to use it should send me a request
ASAP.
3/28/03 NOTE - CU01/CU04 trade; no other changes.
Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise
(a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled
in half night blocks. In fact, all currently scheduled science
programs for this quarter are in half night blocks.
Scheduled engineering time for this quarter consists of 4 nights
of routine maintenance (EN01), or 4.4% of the total available time,
and a "mini-shutdown" of 5 nights (EN02), or 5.5% of the total
available time, for work on the enclosure shutter mechanism.
As in the last 2 quarters, in addition to EN01 time, small blocks
(10-15 min) of engineering time will be inserted into scheduled
science nights on an unscheduled basis to obtain S-H collimation
data on the telescope.
In addition to scheduled engineering time, science observations
may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for urgent
engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that is required
to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities and that allows
"hot pursuit" of some significant problem.
