REVISED ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 1ST QUARTER 2003 E. TURNER 3/16/03 NOTES: ***PLEASE READ*** 3/16/03 NOTE - The remaining two half nights of DD time on 3/17B and 3/21B are assigned to the JH01 program. No other changes. 2/6/03 NOTE - One half OPEN night on 2/9 assigned to PU02, no other changes. 2/5/03 NOTE - This revision corrects the January schedule to reflect what really happen on a couple of dates and gives changes affecting JH01.D, UC01, UC05, UC07, UC08, UW01 & UW05 in February and March. Please notice the OPEN second half on February 9 (ONLY 5 DAYS FROM NOW), which is mostly dark. Please send requests for this OPEN time ASAP but via your institutional schedulers. 1/18/03 NOTE - This completes the preliminary schedule for 1Q2003 by giving the schedule for February and March. Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise (a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled in half night blocks. In fact, all currently scheduled science programs for this quarter are in half night blocks. Scheduled engineering time for this quarter consists of 3 nights of routine maintenance (EN01) or 3.3% of the total available time. SOMETHING NEW - In addition to EN01 time, small blocks (15-30 min, most likely) of engineering time will be inserted into scheduled science nights on an unscheduled basis to obtain S-H collimation data on the telescope. The justification and details of this engineerng project will be announced separately. In addition to scheduled engineering time, science observations may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for urgent engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that is required to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities and that allows "hot pursuit" of some significant problem. Please see links off of the APO home page (http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/) for a web based interactive version of this schedule. ----- EN Note: No science observations scheduled during EN time. ----- EN01 = EN01 Gill ?
