I've update the APO Infrared Spectrograph Reference Book at

http://annabel-lee.pha.jhu.edu/Irspec/RefBook/index.html

Chapter 6, on performance, describes performance from the Hawaii 1RG MBE
detector (better than the original PACE detector). Throughput
(end-to-end, including the telescope) is 32% to 39% depending on the
delivered detector and assuming new mirror coatings, etc. Rebinning a
30 minute exposure from R=4000 to R=800 yields S/N=5 in a single
pixel-width for H=19 in 30 minutes. More generally, things get difficult
somewhere between H=18 and H=19 for ordinary continuum observing.

Chapter 5, on design, presents an improved optical design (see Optical
Layout) and has a new Mechanical Design section with perspective views
of the optical bench and optical layout.
