MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT: Workshop on the LARGE-APERTURE MIRROR ARRAY (LAMA) Project and its possible involvement with the ASTROPHYSICAL RESEARCH CONSORTIUM (ARC) at Apache Point, New Mexico DATE/TIME AND PLACE: Wednesday, 8 January at 5:10 to 7 pm, in the "Douglas Room" in the Sheraton Hotel adjoining the AAS meetings in Seattle CONTEXT: The Large-Aperture Mirror Array (LAMA) Project has expressed interest in installing and operating large liquid-mirror telescopes at the Apache Point Observatory, starting as early as this year. Proposed mirror sizes range from 6 to 12 meters diameter. Detailed information on the LAMA project can be found at http://www.astro.ubc.ca/lmt/lama/ The ARC Board of Governors has recently voted unanimously in favor of exploring possible involvement and/or collaboration between present and future ARC science projects at Apache Point and the LAMA project. For those of you involved with ARC or LAMA and interested in the possibilities, you are invited to attend this informal workshop at the time and venue above. There will be a brief presentation on the LAMA project, followed by a general discussion of collaborative possibilities.
