REVISED ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 4TH QUARTER 2001
E. TURNER 12/3/01
NOTES: ***PLEASE READ***
12/3/01 Note - This revision includes some changes in the pre
Dec 3 schedule to reflect various trades and changes that have
already been executed and assigns some of the December DD01 and
OPEN time to programs from NMSU and UC that have requested them.
N.B., there are still 4 half nights of DD01 time (12/28-31 first
halves) and 2 half nights of OPEN time (12/24-25 second halves)
which may be requested. Since the earliest of these is only 3
weeks away, please let me know ASAP.
Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise
(a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled
in half night blocks.
Scheduled engineering time for this quarter includes 2 nights
for on-sky recommissioning and calibration of DIS following its
upgrade plus an additional 3 nights or routine monthly engineering
time for a total of 5.4% of the available nights.
In addition to scheduled engineering time, science observations
may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for urgent
engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that is required
to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities and that allows
"hot pursuit" of some significant problem.
Please see links off of the APO home page (http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/)
for a web based interactive version of this schedule.

Please specifiy which instrument is desired on which
night asap.
JH07 = 07 Glaz E O
This is a TOO program which may pre-empt other programs
on VERY short notice (minutes) in order to obtain very
early GRB afterglow observations; no time assigned in
this schedule.

PU02.D = PU02 Stra D R (low)
Please name one PI per program; it is not important who it
is, but it is useful for administrative and communication
purposes.
PU03 = PU03 Bowe D R/O (low)
Only one of two allocated nights could be scheduled at this
priority due to scheduling constraints.
PU04 = PU04 Bowe D R (low)

MOST PROGRAMS ARE SCHEDULED IN HALF NIGHT BLOCKS. THE FIRST HALF OF
EACH NIGHT EXTENDS FROM -12 DEGREE EVENING TWILIGHT UNTIL 0100 MDT
OR 0000 MST. THE SECOND HALF FOLLOWS UNTIL -12 DEGREE MORNING
TWILIGHT.
FIRST HALF IS INDICATED BELOW AS "A"; THE SECOND, AS "B".
THIS QUARTER ONLY TWO PROGRAMS USE NON-BLOCK SCHEDULING.
THESE PROGRAMS ARE INDICATED IN PARENTHESES () ON THE SCHEDULE
AND THEIR TIME ALLOTMENTS ARE LISTED HERE:
PU05 = 45 MIN EACH TIME SCHEDULED.
UC08 = 60 MIN BEFORE EVENING -12 DEGREE TWILIGHT EACH TIME SCHEDULED.
INSTRUMENT CHANGE TIMES ARE NOT INCLUDED BELOW BUT WILL BE INDICATED
IN THE SCHEDULE ISSUED FROM APO AND WILL BE SHARED BETWEEN ADJOINING
PROGRAMS AS USUAL.
