		REVISED ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 1ST QUARTER 2001
			     E. TURNER 2/8/01

			NOTES: ***PLEASE READ***

	2/8/01 NOTE: A larege number of internal UW swaps are reflected
	in this revision plus the assignment of March 7-8 time formerly
	scheduled for engineering to UC04 and PU08 and the assignment of
	the open DD time on March 30-31. Note that the time assigned on
	March 7 is contingent on successful completion of engineering
	observations on March 6.

	1/2/01 NOTE: Minor changes to correct typos, account for internal
	swaps and so forth based on observer/institutional requests.

	Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise
	(a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled
	in half night blocks.

	Scheduled engineering time for this quarter amounts to 4-5 nights.
	Thus, it will be at approximately the 4.5-5.5% level.

	In addition to scheduled engineering time, science observations
	may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for urgent
	engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that is required
	to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities and that allows
	"hot pursuit" of some significant problem.

	ACCOUNTING NOTE: WSU sold 6 half nights (D and G) of its time to
	PUO for 1Q2001. These programs are identified as PU time in this
	schedule. The remaining 4 half nights (B) of WSU time are identified
	as WS01 and wil be used for engineering or contingency purposes.

	Please see links off of the APO home page (http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/)
	for a web based interactive version of this schedule.

	-----
	EN Note: No science observations scheduled during EN time.
	-----
	EN01 = EN01 Gill ? O
		Routine periodic engineering time.
	WS01 = WS01 Gill ? O
		Engineering or contngency time.

	-----
	DD Note: Director's Discretionary Time (3.3% of total)
	-----
	DD01 = 011DD01 TBD TBD TBD
	DD02 = 011DD02 Wood FabPer O
                These observations involve the use of a visitor instrument.
                The time is scheduled contingent upon the PI obtaining
                Bruce Gillespie's explicit agreement that all the technical
                and logistical arrangements involving the instrument are
                satisfactory at least 10 days prior to the scheduled
                observations.
	DD03 = 011DD03 Ande E O
	DD04 = 011DD04 McGe D O (high)

	-----
	JHU Note: 100% of nominal share scheduled. Programs not ranked
	by TAC; submitted order used for priority. Time allocations listed
	in the individual requests do
	not agree with those tabulated in the overall summary (which appears
	to correspond to the TAC allocation?). JHU Scheduler - please edit
	individual requests to match TAC allocations in the future; this
	will save me a lot of time and confusion.
	-----
	JH01.G = 01 Goli G R
	JH01.D = 01 Goli D R (low)
	JH02 = 02 Seib S R
		This program was not scheduled because no time was allocated
		to it by the JHU TAC.
	JH03 = 03 Goli D R (medium, low)
	JH04.G = 04 Zhen G R
	JH04.D = 04 Zhen D R (low)
	JH05 = 05 Gron D R (medium)
	JH06 = 06 Wyse G R
	JH07 = 07 Glaz E O
		This is a TOO program which may pre-empt other programs
		on VERY short notice (minutes) in order to obtain very
		early GRB afterglow observations; details of procedures
		will be announced seperately at a later date. No time
		assigned in this schedule.

	-----
	NMSU Note: 111% of nominal share scheduled. Flexibility time added
	to NM01.

	NM01 = NM01 Step G O
	NM02 = NM02 Holt D O (medium, low)
	NM03 = NM03 Chan E O
	NM04.S = NM04 Walt S O
	NM04.D = NM04 Walt D O (medium, high)
	NM05 = NM05 Geli G R
	NM06 = NM06 Mill D R (medium)
	NM07 = NM07 Nitt D O (medium)

	-----
	PU Note: 100% of nominal share scheduled.
	-----
	PU01 = PU01 Pind D R (low)
	PU02.G = PU02 Nara G R (low)
	PU02.D = PU02 Nara D R (low)
	PU03 = PU03 Bowe D R (high, low)
	PU04 = PU04 Turn D R (low)
	PU05 = PU05 Knap D R (low)
		One of scheduled half nights violates "Special Requirement"
		constraint for one observer; unavoidable at this priority.
	PU06 = PU06 Hall D R (medium)
		No G time remained at this priority; only one half night
		scheduled.
	PU07 = PU07 Turn S O
		Non-block scheduling. See note in BLOCK CAPS just before
		schedule below.
	PU08 = PU08 Nara G R

	-----
	UC Note: 86% of nominal share scheduled. Bright time undersubscribed
	by 5 half nights.
	-----
	UC01 = 360 York FabPer O
	UC02 = 358 Kron S O
	UC03 = 359 Frie D R (low)
	UC04 = 357 York E R
	UC05 = 356 York G/S/D/E R
		Adler Planetarium twilight program (not accounted to UC).
		Use instrument mounted for the night's first program.
		Only one of three requested nights available; by bad luck,
		the other two are being used for observations of Venus
		during twilight by NM03 and DD03.

	-----
	UW Note: 108% of nominal share scheduled. Flexibility time added
	to UW03 & UW04 Time allocations listed in the individual requests do
	not agree with those tabulated in the overall summary (which appears
	to correspond to the TAC allocation?). UW Scheduler - please edit
	individual requests to match TAC allocations in the future; this
	will save me a lot of time and confusion. THIS IS THE SECOND
	QUARTER IN A ROW WITH THIS PROBLEM; PLEASE FIX NEXT QUARTER.

		Request does not specify which instrument (SPIcam or DIS)
		is to be scheduled at which moon phases nor which DIS
		grating is to be available. Please inform APO staff and
		me of these details ASAP.
	UW08 = UW08 Gonz E R
	UW09 = UW09 Wall E R
		This program was awarded its time, in part, is blocks of
		less than one half night due to low priority and limited
		choices given RA constraints.
	UW10 = UW10 Frit S R
		The two assigned D half nights scheduled as G due to low
		priority and limited choices given schedule constraints.

	EACH NIGHT EXTENDS FROM -12 DEGREE EVENING TWILIGHT UNTIL 0010 MST.
	THE SECOND HALF FOLLOWS UNTIL -12 DEGREE MORNING TWILIGHT.

	FIRST HALF IS INDICATED BELOW AS "A"; THE SECOND, AS "B".

	INSTRUMENT CHANGE TIMES ARE NOT INCLUDED BELOW BUT WILL BE INDICATED
	IN THE SCHEDULE ISSUED FROM APO AND WILL BE SHARED BETWEEN ADJOINING
	PROGRAMS AS USUAL.
