This is a reminder that observers are requested to contact (by email normally) the site during the day preceeding any scheduled observations to confirm their requested instrument configurations and attend to any other possible last minute logistical arrangements (and, in general, just to make sure everyone is "on the same page"). The attached from one of our Observing Specialists describes the procedure and rationale well. Thanks, Ed Turner ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Is it possible to remind people that we would like them to send us email on the day of the their run, not a week sooner or never, regarding the instrument setup and filter selections that they want. I have not received these emails from many observers and it has resulted in changing setup twice this week already, which wastes their calibration time and our effort. The program proposals rarely have *all* the information, and often there is a change anyway. It would be nice to send these requests in the following manner: Send Request to Email: <techstaff@apo.nmsu.edu> Subject Line: "Instrument Setup Request <program number> & Date" Example: "Instrument Setup Request PU05 6/26/00" This makes it easier to filter email and get the info as soon as possible. That way we can make sure that the observer gets the instrument and setup that they desire as soon as possible which allows them more time for calibrations, etc... Thanks.
