effective today 5-9-00 the Na2 guider is not operational.

we discovered a coolant leak in the photometric's fittings which was
the same problem 6 months ago that ultimately shorted out some
electronics and cost us many thousands of dollars and nearly 2 months
of down time.

we are in the process of repairing these fittings and replacing them
with ones that should not have a thermal expansion problem. We plan
to fix the sticking shutter problem (which we expect to also be due
to the coolant leak) at this time.

it is not likely that the guider will be operational before the end
of the engineering shut down next week but it is possible .

A note will be issued to this mailer once it is again operational.
