REVISED ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 2ND QUARTER 2000 E. TURNER 4/5/00 NOTES: ***PLEASE READ*** 4/5/00 Notes: This revision records a bunch of small schedule swaps and minor changes affecting "only" the following programs: DD03, DD04( a new program), NM01, PU01, PU02, PU05, UC01, UC07, UC08, UW02 and UW03 (unless I missed one/some). Note that one swap affects the schedule for *tomorrow* night, 4/6. Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise (a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled in half night blocks. Scheduled engineering time for this quarter amounts to 9 nights. Thus, scheduled engineering time will be at approximately the 10% level. In addition to scheduled engineering time, science observations may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for urgent engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that is required to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities and that allows "hot pursuit" of some significant problem. DD03 is a set aside of four two nights of observing time for rapid follow-up of targets identified by the SDSS or for other quick response target-of-opportunity programs. Details of the project and procedures for obtaining access to DD03 time will be given in a separate posting to apo35-general and to sdss-general. IMPORTANT NOTE: The split of the night into two halves occurs on the hour (0000 MST or 0100 MDT) rather than at 10 minutes past the hour as in most recent quarters. ACCOUNTING NOTE: WSU sold 6 half nights of time to PUO for 2Q2000. Please see links off of the APO home page (http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/) for a web based interactive version of this schedule. ----- EN Note: No science observations scheduled during EN time. ----- EN01 = EN01 Gill ? Use instrument mounted for the night's first program. Non-block scheduling. See note in BLOCK CAPS just before schedule below. Requested observing dates are all in the first quarter! Only one night scheduled as per instructions in a later part of the proposal. Please advise if this is not correctly scheduled. ----- UW Note: 102% of nominal share scheduled. Flexibility time added to UW02. Time allocations listed in the individual requests did not agree with those tabulated in the overall summary (which appears to correspond to the TAC allocation?). This was not discovered until too late in the scheduling process to correct (assuming that the tabulation was correct rather than the individual listings?) completely; however, most programs got at least something close to the tabulated allocations. ----- UW01 = UW01 Ande D R (low) UW02 = UW02 Kris S/G R SPIcam is the primary instrument, but GRIM2 is back-up and may be switched in after SPIcam observations on some nights at the observer's request. Insufficient D and G time allocated to schedule every 3 to 4 nights (as requested) through the dark runs, but an attempt was made to come as close as possible given the constraints of the available D/G time allocation. UW03 = UW03 Szko D R (high) Despite indication that this program is for HST and EUVE coordinated observations, no observing schedule constraints were specifieda Scheduling based on a guess at what might work.
