This is a somewhat belated announcement that Prof. Christopher
Stubbs (UWash) has assumed the position of Telescope Scientist
for the 3.5-meter project. In this role he will provide technical
leadership to the project and advice to the Director toward the
broadly defined goal of maximizing the scientific return from
the telescope and its instruments and assciated facilities.

This relatively formal "job description" essentially means that
Chris will be playing an active, often pro-active, role in most of
our many of our efforts to get the most and best science out of the
facility and will attempt to focus our attention and resources on
whatever problems are most serious from that perspective.

Please include him (stubbs@astro.washington.edu) in all relevant
discussions and correspondence.
