Starting in 4Q1999 I am planning to schedule the telescope from
-12 to -12 degree ("nautical") twilights instead of our current
practise of using -18 to -18 degree ("astronomical") twilights,
as an experiment. The justification is that this time is nearly
always useful and used, at least for set-up and calibration and
often for science exposures. The intention is merely to have the
schedule more accurately reflect reality.
This will add approximately one hour per night to amount of
scheduled time, and this increase has been included in the figures
of the previous "institutional allotment" message some of you
just received.
Comments, suggestions, objections etc. welcome.
