APO User, The observatory has gotten a few requests from 3.5-m users for a convenient method of matching their science exposures to guide (or slit viewer) camera exposures for later analysis of their data. Unfortunately, it would prove quite difficult or impossible to get this information correct, in the image headers, and in a timely fashion while an observer is collecting, downloading, and inspecting their raw data. As an alternative we are making a number of post processing scripts available on newton.apo.nmsu.edu, accessible from each of the institutional accounts to provide this information to you. These scripts can be run anytime after your observing run (up to the year that raw data resides at APO) to generate a text log matching up your science frames to associated guide/ slit viewer frames. The scripts for matching the echelle to the echelle slitviewer frames , dis to dis slitviewer, triplespec to triplespec slitviewer and na2guider to any of the na2 mountable instruments (dis, spicam, nicfps, triplespec, gfp) respectfully are: ecam_match dcam_match tcam_match gcam_match For more information on how to run these programs and what information they provide go to: http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/arc35m/Guider_match_scripts.html or follow the drop down menu from the "Telescope & Instrument Information" page that is called "Observing Tools" and select "Guider match scripts".
