ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 2nd QUARTER 2011
S.Hawley, R.McMillan 3/8/2011
NOTES: ***PLEASE READ***
Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise
(a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled
in half night blocks.
There are 91 nights, or 182 half nights, in 2Q2011. Scheduled
engineering (routine EN01) time consists of 7 nights, or 14 half
nights, all bright, making up 7.7% of the observing time. The DD
time consists of 12 half nights, scheduled as 5B, 2G,
5D. Computing 182 - 14 - 12 leaves 156 half nights for allocation
by the institutions, which break down as 56B, 32G and 68D.
In addition to scheduled engineering time, science
observations may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for
urgent engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that
is required to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities
and that allows "hot pursuit" of some significant problem.
Please see links off of the APO home page (http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/)
for a web based interactive version of this schedule.
There are 5 half-nights of OPEN time and 6 half nights of unallocated
DD time (DD04) in the initial (3/8/11) version of the schedule.

MOST PROGRAMS ARE SCHEDULED IN HALF NIGHT BLOCKS. THE FIRST
HALF OF EACH NIGHT EXTENDS FROM SUNSET UNTIL 0010 MST OR 0110
MDT. THE SECOND HALF FOLLOWS UNTIL SUNRISE.
FIRST HALF IS INDICATED BELOW AS "A"; THE SECOND, AS "B".
THIS QUARTER SEVEN PROGRAMS USE NON-BLOCK SCHEDULING.
INSTRUMENT CHANGE TIMES ARE NOT INCLUDED BELOW BUT WILL BE INDICATED
IN THE SCHEDULE ISSUED FROM APO AND WILL BE SHARED BETWEEN ADJOINING
PROGRAMS AS USUAL.
