Note: revised schedules are posted frequently on the APO website, but only sent by email a couple of times per quarter. Please check the website for the most up-to-date version. There are 3 remaining DD half nights in December 2008, on 12/20B, 12/24B, and 12/25A. I am planning to use the Christmas eve and Christmas half nights for engineering unless I receive urgent science requests. The 12/20B half night is grey time that is still open. Please send requests for DD time to me soon (email address above). Suzanne Hawley Director, ARC 3.5m Telescope Apache Point Observatory -------------------------------------- ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 4th QUARTER 2008 S.Hawley, R.McMillan 11/24/08 NOTES: ***PLEASE READ*** 11/24/08 -- time trades implemented and OPEN time assigned. There are 3 DD half nights (DD07) unallocated in the 11/24/08 version of the schedule. 10/30/08 -- assigned some DD and OPEN time. 3 DD half nights (DD07) and 1 OPEN half night remain unallocated in the 10/30/08 version of the schedule. 10/22/08 -- implemented trades, scheduled some OPEN time. There are 3 half nights of OPEN time and 5 half nights of DD time (DD06) in the 10/22/08 version of the Q4 schedule. 9/25/08 -- implemented time trades, scheduled some OPEN and DD05 time, unscheduled DD now DD06. 9/18/08 -- scheduled DD04 time, unscheduled DD now DD05. 9/10/08 -- scheduled DD03 time, unscheduled DD now DD04. 9/9/08 -- corrected typos, scheduled some DD time. Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise (a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled in half night blocks. There are 92 nights, or 184 half nights, in 4Q2008. Scheduled engineering EN01 time consists of 5 nights, or 10 half nights, all bright, comprising 6.2% of the total. DD time consists of 15 half nights, divided as 8B, 1G, 6D and representng 8.2% of the total. Computing 184 - 10 - 15 leaves 159 half nights for allocation by the institutions, which break down as 57B, 33G and 69D. In addition to scheduled engineering time, science observations may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for urgent engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that is required to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities and that allows "hot pursuit" of some significant problem. Please see links off of the APO home page (http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/) for a web based interactive version of this schedule. There are 6 half-nights of OPEN time and 10 half-nights of unallocated DD time (DD03) in the 9/8/08 version of the schedule. ----- EN Note: No science observations scheduled during EN time. ----- EN01 = EN01 Klae X W Routine periodic engineering time. ----- DD Note: Director's Discretionary Time (8.2% of total time) ----- DD01 = DD01 Murp A R DD02 = DD02 Wood FD O DD03 = DD03 Beck P R DD04 = DD04 Wall D R DD05 = DD05 Stri NT R Triplespec only available in November DD06 = DD06 Hart D R DD07 = DD07 TBD TBD TBD ----- CU Note: 12.5% observing share ----- CU01 = CU01 Ball NDTS O (R1200) CU02 = CU02 Moe T R CU03 = CU03 Fran D R (B400+R300) CU04 = CU04 Stoc T R CU05.N = CU05 Ball N R CU05.T = CU05 Ball T R CU06 = CU06 Yan NS R CU07 = CU07 Wint N R CU08 = CU08 Burg N R ----- JHU Note: 8.0% observing share ----- JH01 = JH01 Ries D R (B400+R300) JH02 = JH02 Mora D R (B400+R300) ----- NMSU Note: 15.625% observing share ----- NM01 = NM01 Mill P O NM02 = NM02 Hoff D R (B1200+R1200) NM03 = NM03 Mill P O NM04 = NM04 Stoc D R (B1200+R1200) NM05 = NM05 Harr D R (B1200+R1200) NM06 = NM06 Coug D R (B1200+R1200) NM07 = NM07 Chur D R (B1200+R1200) NM08 = NM08 Holt D R (B400+R300) NM09 = NM09 Chur S R ----- PU Note: 15.625% observing share ----- PU01 = PU01 Bade D R (B400+R300) PU02 = PU02 Shin D R (B400+R300) PU03 = PU03 Gree TD R (B400+R300) PU04 = PU04 Bowe D R (B400+R300) PU05 = PU05 Gree S R PU06 = PU06 Stra T R ----- UC Note: 17.0% observing share ----- UC01 = 608 Chen D R (B400+R300) UC02 = 604 York D R (B400+R300) UC03 = 605 York E R UC04 = 607 Wolf N R UC05 = 606 Frie D R (B400+R300) UC06 = 610 Gyuk T R UC07 = 609 Frie SD R (B400+R300) ----- UV Note: 6.25% observing share ----- UV01 = UV01 Thua D R (B400+R300) UV02 = UV02 Chou E R UV03 = UV03 Whit T R UV04 = UV04 Beat T R UV05 = UV05 Dros T R UV06 = UV06 Fox T O UV07 = UV07 Skru T R UV08 = UV08 Leis T R ----- UW Note: 25.0% observing share ----- UW01 = UW01 Kund T R UW02 = UW02 Beck P R UW03 = UW03 Will D R (B400+R300) UW04 = UW04 Szko P R UW05 = UW05 Kowa D R (B400+R300) UW06 = UW06 Bali D R (B400+R300) UW07 = UW07 Wall S R UW08 = UW08 Hilt P R UW09 = UW09 Beck D R (B400+R300) UW10 = UW10 Schm T R UW11 = UW11 Kowa D R (R300) UW12 = UW12 Wisn ED R (B400+R300) UW13 = UW13 Plot N R UW14 = UW14 Wall E R UW15 = UW15 Wisn FD O (R1200) UW16 = UW16 Lutz PE R UW17 = UW17 Murp A R ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ MOST PROGRAMS ARE SCHEDULED IN HALF NIGHT BLOCKS.
