Hello,
A team of astronomers from NMSU, NASA/MSFC, and APO is planning to
observe the LCROSS impact into the Moon with the APO 3.5-m and 1-m
telescopes in Spring 2009. We will be using Agile on the 3.5-m to
study the plume evolution to help characterize the lunar regolith. If
there are other people out there in the ARC community who are thinking
about trying to observe the LCROSS event with the APO 3.5-meter could
you please let me know? We have some test observations scheduled in
December and we will be seeking a small amount of support from NASA
for this project. We would like to be inclusive of all ARC members
who want to participate and avoid a situation where multiple teams
would be competing for telescope time for this time-critical event.
Thanks,
Nancy
