ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 2nd QUARTER 2008
S.Hawley, R.McMillan 4/9/08
NOTES: ***PLEASE READ***
4/9/08: Implemented trades, assigned DD and OPEN time,
changed schedule to reflect on-site observing. There are
1 half night of OPEN time and 2 half nights of unallocated
DD time (DD05) in the 4/9/08 version of the schedule.
3/29/08: Corrected scheduling error, assigned DD time.
There are 3 half nights of OPEN time and 6 half nights
of unallocated DD time (DD03) in the 3/29/08 version of
of the schedule.
3/24/08: Assigned DD and OPEN time. There are 3 half
nights of OPEN time and 8 half nights of unallocated
DD time (DD03) in the 3/24/08 version of the Q2 schedule.
Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise
(a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled
in half night blocks.
There are 91 nights, or 182 half nights, in 2Q2008. Scheduled
engineering (routine EN01) time consists of 5.5 nights, or 11
half nights, all bright. Instrument engineering (Triplespec
EN02) consists of 5 nights, or 10 half nights, all bright.
The total engineering time (21 half nights) comprises 11.5%
of the total. DD time consists of 16 half nights, divided as
9B, 7D and representing 8.8% of the total.
In addition to scheduled engineering time, science
observations may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for
urgent engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that
is required to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities
and that allows "hot pursuit" of some significant problem.
Please see links off of the APO home page (http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/)
for a web based interactive version of this schedule.
There are 8 half-nights of OPEN time and 10 half nights of
unallocated DD time (DD03) in the 3/8/08 version of the schedule.

MOST PROGRAMS ARE SCHEDULED IN HALF NIGHT BLOCKS. THE FIRST
HALF OF EACH NIGHT EXTENDS FROM SUNSET UNTIL 0105 MDT. THE
SECOND HALF FOLLOWS UNTIL SUNRISE.
FIRST HALF IS INDICATED BELOW AS "A"; THE SECOND, AS "B".
THIS QUARTER FOUR PROGRAMS USE NON-BLOCK SCHEDULING.
INSTRUMENT CHANGE TIMES ARE NOT INCLUDED BELOW BUT WILL BE INDICATED
IN THE SCHEDULE ISSUED FROM APO AND WILL BE SHARED BETWEEN ADJOINING
PROGRAMS AS USUAL.
