ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 1st QUARTER 2008
S.Hawley, R.McMillan 2/13/08
NOTES: ***PLEASE READ***
2/13/08: Implemented trades, reassigned engineering time.
There is no OPEN or DD time in the 2/13/08 version of the
schedule.
1/26/08: Assigned some DD and OPEN time. One half night
of OPEN time, which may be needed for engineering,
remains in the 1/26/08 version of the schedule.
1/11/08: Assigned DD time, implemented time trades. There
are 3 half nights of OPEN time and 4 half nights of
unallocated DD time (DD05) in the 1/11/08 version of the
schedule.
12/29/07: Changed to reflect several swaps between UC03 and
UC02.
12/14/07: Assigned some DD and OPEN time, fixed some APOLLO
time allocations. There are 3 half nights of OPEN time
and 5 half nights of unallocated DD time (DD04) in the
12/14/07 version of the schedule.
12/9/07: There are 5 half nights of OPEN time and 7 half
nights of unallocated DD time (DD03) in the 12/9/07 version of
the schedule.
Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise
(a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled
in half night blocks.
There are 91 nights, or 182 half nights, in 1Q2008. Scheduled
engineering (routine EN01 and instrument EN02) time consists
of 16 half nights, and comprises 8.8% of the total. DD time
consists of 14 half nights, comprising 7.7% of the total.
In addition to scheduled engineering time, science
observations may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for
urgent engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that
is required to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities
and that allows "hot pursuit" of some significant problem.
Please see links off of the APO home page (http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/)
for a web based interactive version of this schedule.

MOST PROGRAMS ARE SCHEDULED IN HALF NIGHT BLOCKS. THE FIRST
HALF OF EACH NIGHT EXTENDS FROM SUNSET UNTIL 0010 MST OR
0110 MDT. THE SECOND HALF FOLLOWS UNTIL SUNRISE.
FIRST HALF IS INDICATED BELOW AS "A"; THE SECOND, AS "B".
THIS QUARTER TWO PROGRAMS USE NON-BLOCK SCHEDULING.
INSTRUMENT CHANGE TIMES ARE NOT INCLUDED BELOW BUT WILL BE INDICATED
IN THE SCHEDULE ISSUED FROM APO AND WILL BE SHARED BETWEEN ADJOINING
PROGRAMS AS USUAL.
