ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 3rd QUARTER 2007 S.Hawley, R.McMillan 6/17/07 NOTES: ***PLEASE READ*** 6/17/07: assigned OPEN and DD time. There are 3 half nights of unscheduled DD03 time remaining in the 6/17/07 version of the schedule. Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise (a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled in half night blocks. There are 92 nights, or 184 half nights, in 3Q2007. Scheduled engineering (routine EN01) time (July 26-27) consists of 3 half nights, all bright. Shutdown for the primary mirror aluminization and other assorted maintenance tasks (Aug 20 - Sep 16) is 28 nights, or 56 half nights, comprising (basically) a full lunation. Engineering time thus consists of 59/184 = 32.1% of the total time in 3rd quarter 2007. DD time consists of 9 half nights, representing 4.9% of the total time. Computing 184-59-9 leaves 116 half nights for allocation by the institutions. In addition to scheduled engineering time, science observations may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for urgent engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that is required to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities and that allows "hot pursuit" of some significant problem. Please see links off of the APO home page (http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/) for a web based interactive version of this schedule. There are 6 half-nights of OPEN time and 6 half-nights of unallocated DD time (DD02) in the 6/14/07 version of the schedule. ----- EN Note: No science observations scheduled during EN time. ----- EN01 = EN01 Klae X W Routine periodic engineering time.
