As a result of a temporary lapse in sanity, I have written an IRAF package to facilitate the reduction of DIS spectra. A further lapse in sanity has caused me to actually write documentation for this package. This being the case and the since I know that at least one other person is interested in such software, I am making the package available to all. All the usual WYSIWYG caveats apply, but it may be possible to talk me into making minor changes, and I will certainly fix bugs if they are brought to my attention. The routines are all essentially wrappers to existing IRAF routines, but I have tailored things towards DIS data and have tried to remove some of the silliness of IRAF. The primary selling point for the package is that an experienced user can produce a fully publishable flux calibrated spectrum within 5 minutes of having taken the spectrum at the telescope. In addition to the usual extraction and flux calibration of spectra, routines for the coaddition and variance weighted coaddtion of spectra are also provided. The package can be found in /home/visitor1/gordonr/distools/distools.tar.gz on tycho.apo.nmsu.edu. A README file in the same directory gives installation instructions. Please feel free to contact me for more information if you are so inclined.
