Zwicky's original paper on the application of the virial theorem to
the Coma cluster of galaxies
is in Helvetica Physica Acta 6, 110 (1933) - unfortunately not on line
anywhere that I can find
A slightly later but independent analysis that reached the same
conclusion for the Virgo cluster
of galaxies is Smith
(1936)
Relaxation:

description of the relaxation process. A much more detailed discussion

The Hernquist model was introduced by Hernquist
(1990).
The Jaffe model was introduced by Jaffe
(1983).
The Jaffe and Hernquist models are special cases of a one-parameter
family of models
described by Dehnen
(1993) and Tremaine
et al. (1994).
The NFW model was introduced by Navarro,
Frenk & White (1997)
as a model for the density distribution in dark halos.
