The course grade will be based on two papers, one due midterm week
(October 22) and the other due at the end of reading period (January 13),
as well as on a 15 minute presentation in class on either October 22
or December 10, on the subject of your paper.
Suggested
topics for papers.
Grading:
- Mid-Term paper, ~10 typed double-spaced pages: 30%
- Final paper, ~15 typed double-spaced pages: 50%
- 15 minute Class presentation on one of these papers: 20%
There will be no homework or exams in this course. There will be no
formal reading assignments, but I will give ample reading suggestions
from the assigned books, and hand out additional readings as
appropriate.
I will not keep formal office hours, but (if not otherwise out of
town), I can usually be found in my office during the day, and welcome
you to drop by. Contact me by e-mail or phone first to set up an
appointment, or to make sure I'm in.
