Zsolt Frei's Home page:
Fantastic Image
I am an assistant professor of Astrophysics at the Institute of Physics, Eötvös University, Budapest. You can Email me at frei@astro.princeton.edu, or call/FAX/snail-mail if you choose.
I was a graduate student in Princeton between 1990 and 1994, and this site still hosts my galaxy catalog, that is why I still have the copy of my home page here. Some of the links that are not work-related are not duplicated here, the links simply point back to my permanent site at Eötvös University, Budapest, which may be faster from Europe.
"Professional" links:
Research topics
This is a non-technical description of research projects I am currently working on. I linked some of the science papers I already published on these projects and collected the sites of collaborators, institutes and observatories I am working with.
My publication
I listed my publications, the pier-reviewed science papers and conference contributions. Many of them are available for download in PostScript format along with tabulated data and images. I included some popular science articles (in Hungarian) which appeared in HVG (perhaps the most popular Hungarian weekly) and in Fizikai Szemle, the journal of the Hungarian Physical Society.
The Galaxy Catalog
I have developed a digital catalog of 113 nearby galaxies using images taken with CCD cameras at Palomar Observatory and at Lowell Observatory. All images are available in FITS and JPEG formats. Many pages cite this collection, among them the NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (NED) and Encyclopædia Britannica. You can also buy the catalog on a CD soon to be published by Princeton University Press.
Teaching links
I organize the Special Concentration in Astrophysics (Asztrofizika Szakirány) at Eötvös University. You will find a comprehensive description of the program, syllabi of courses and info on advanced laboratory experiments here. I also linked the page of Astronomy 1, the introductory course I was teaching at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, in 1996-1998.

Fun links
I have (too) many outside interests. Here is a collection of pages about high-tech box and stunter kites, microcontroller driven LEGO-technic robots, digitized photos, old software, etc...
My brother's TV show
My brother has a TV production company, and he hosts DOSSIER, a popular TV show in Hungary. His web-site boasts full Hungarian transcripts and some info in English as well.
