I am a Carnegie-Princeton post-doctoral fellow currently residing at Princeton University and formerly at Carnegie Observatories.  I received a PhD in Astrophysics from Caltech in 2004, with a thesis focused on multi-wavelength studies of gamma-ray bursts and their host galaxies, as well as type Ib/c core-collapse supernovae.
Trapped in the Palomar 200-inch telescope prime focus cage
My thesis, "Cosmic Explosions: The Beasts and Their Lair", can be found here ===>

Gamma-Ray Bursts
My current work is focused on the properties of gamma-ray burst host galaxies, and the use of GRB afterglows for the study of the intergalactic medium and the interstellar medium of the host galaxies.  For these projects I am using  the Magellan, the VLA, and Keck.

Magnetic Activity in Brown Dwarfs
This project, using the VLA and Chandra, began with the discovery of magnetically-driven radio emission from the brown dwarf LP944-20 - the first example of such activity in brown dwarfs.  Subsequent work indicates that magnetic fields are prevalent in these objects. Recently, I discovered periodic radio emission from a brown dwarf, possibly due to a planetary companion.
