Global folders are folders on the mail server that everyone can access. They can be used as a bulletin board if desired, though we don't currently have any configured as such.

How To Access

If you use a graphical client such as Thunderbird or Mail.app, the global folders will show up as being "equals" to your Inbox (instead of children of your inbox, as standard mail folders are). In Roundcube you must subscribe to the folder through the Settings -> Folders link at the top of the page. In Alpine the global folders are configured in the "Global Folders" collection when you view the collection list.

How To Save Mail To LearnSpam

In a graphical client, select the message and copy it to the target folder - most provide this functionality through a right-click menu. You could also drag and drop the message, but because you cannot read messages in that folder this will mean you are deleting your copy of the message as well (you can possibly undo this through Ctrl- or Cmd-Z).

In Alpine, hilight the message and press 's' to Save. Press Ctrl-R to tell Alpine not to delete the original, then press Ctrl-N until "<Global Folders>" is displayed as the collection. Finally, type LearnSpam as the folder name, or press Ctrl-T and hilight the LearnSpam folder and press enter to fill the value. Pressing enter one last time will save the message to that folder; if you forgot to press Ctrl-R to prevent the delete-after-save, press 'u' to Undelete the message before leaving the current folder.
