REVISED ARC 3.5M SCHEDULE FOR 3RD QUARTER 2004
                     E. Turner & R.McMillan 8/31/04

			NOTES: ***PLEASE READ***

	8/31 Note - Changes on 9/1 and 9/3 only & observer for UW07 is
	V. Woolf rather than G. Wallerstein.

8/30 Note - Swaps and changes affecting Aug 27 & 30 and Sept
	1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 15, 20 & 24.

8/6 Note - Revised schedule shows extension of the shutdown
through 8/25 due to the mirror cover damage and swaps affecting
	only programs PU02, UW02 and UW03.

Except in cases where strong science drivers dictate otherwise
(a minority of cases), observing time has again been scheduled
	in half night blocks.

Scheduled engineering for 3Q2004 consists of a 56 night
summer shutdown for major engineering projects, both regular
maintenance and improvements, plus 2 nights of routine EN01
time. The total is thus 58 nights, or 63% of the total
nights. The shutdown will be concentrated during what is
normally the most severe part of the annual monsoon pattern,
as usual. The EN01 time is 5.6% of the non-sutdown time.

In addition to scheduled engineering time, science observations
may be pre-empted, sometimes on short notice, for urgent
engineering tasks. Such tasks include both work that is required
to safeguard observatory personnel or facilities and that allows
"hot pursuit" of some significant problem.

	One half night of bright DD01 time is available by request (9/25B);
please send proposals for use of this time to E. Turner.

Please see links off of the APO home page (http://www.apo.nmsu.edu/)
for a web based interactive version of this schedule.

There is no OPEN time in the present version of the schedule.
