All:

We are pleased to announce that the 3.5-m shutdown is wrapping up on
schedule, with no new surprises or further delays anticipated. Weather
permitting, we should be back on the sky in the next day or two for the
start of engineering observations (collimation, pointing model, etc.).
Also, the recent spate of wet and cloudy weather has conveniently left
New Mexico,
and we anticipate decent skies to carry out the necessary engineering.

At this point, it appears that science observing with the 3.5-m
telescope will commence as scheduled on Thursday night, 26 August.
This message serves to notify the observers to be ready to observe
starting on that date. Please send instrument and setup information to
the Observing Specialists 1-2 days in advance, as usual.

Best regards,

Ed Turner
