There is a new IRAF package available on tycho at Apache Point. The package
is called 'apo' and can be accessed from the main cl package on tycho. This
will serve as a storage are for tasks of use for reduction and analysis of
APO science and engineering data. Take a look and see what's there. There are
currently two tasks that might be useful - 'size' and 'grimcombine'. There is
also a sub-package of 'apo' called 'lens.' This contains a number of tasks
that were developed for the gravitational lens monitoring program. Some of
them may be of general use though, so have a look at them:

        SIZE
If you've ever had that annoying problem of the cursur ending up in a garbled
mess in the middle of your window rather than at the bottom like it should
be, or an epar that scrolls off into la-la land, then just run size (type
size). This will automatically correct the probelm. If at any time during
your session you resize your window, just type size again.

	GRIMCOMBINE
Grimcombine is just a special form of imcombine that is especially useful for
looking at data from my grim focus script (grimfoc.tcl in ~bergeron/tcl).
You can feed it your sequence of images (focus images) and it will generate a
median sky frame from the set, subtract that sky from each image, and then
average the frames together. In the case of a focus sequence, you end up with
something that looks like a DIS focus frame. This task will work on *any* set
of images, not just grim data. To run it just load the apo package and epar
grimcombine. I'll get a help file for this task built soon. For a set of 9
grim images it takes 10-15 seconds to run.

If you have written an iraf script that you think might be of use to the APO
community let one of the operators or Jim Fowler know and we can put it in
the package for you.
