To the members of the ARC 3.5m community, I'd like to call your attention to the statement recently issued by the Ground-based OIR System Roadmap Committee (of which Michael Strauss and I are both members) on the NSF/AST Portfolio Review Committee report. You can find the statement at: http://www.noao.edu/currents/201211.html#statement The Portfolio Review Committee recommendations will have a significant impact on ground-based OIR astronomy. With concerns about the health of the OIR community in mind, the System Roadmap Committee statement makes recommendations regarding the implementation of the report that are intended to reflect the views of the broad community. Please take a moment to review the statement and, if you agree with it, to endorse it. The aggregate voice of community opinion is important in determining the outcome of the Portfolio Review process. To endorse the statement, visit the System Roadmap Committee's petition website: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dC1lSENxMEJOLWVJXy1ldVdPR0RCQnc6MQ and enter your name and affiliation, check the "I endorse the statement" box, and hit "Submit". You may also endorse the statement by sending an email to system.roadmap@gmail.com. Comments and questions on the statement are welcome at an online community forum: http://ast.noao.edu/node/201 or by email to system.roadmap@gmail.com.
