Hi and Happy New Year, I know that at least a few of you will be attending the AAS meeting in Toronto in a couple of weeks. It occurs to me that it might be a good opportunity for one or more informal meetings of the Users Cmte, the schedulers, ARC BoG members and any other interested members of the 3.5m user community. There are a variety of topics we could discuss, including implementation of the recently approved 3-year plan which has now been developed in much more detail. I did not have in mind anything as elaborate as the all day meeting held last August in Baltimore (since this would interfere too much with participation in the AAS meeting itself), but rather perhaps a series of informal discussions. Perhaps we could have some group lunches and dinners or meet for an evening. Please let me know if you are planning to be at the AAS meeting and if you would be interested in participating in such informal discussions of 3.5m business. This is definitely a "spur of the moment" idea. I had not been planning to attend the meeting but would be happy to do so if there is enough interest. Even if I am not there, those who are might find it useful to get together anyway. It will probably take only a bit of advanced planning to make it happen.
