23 Nov 96 I have learned some new things about the box that is used to support dial-in SLIP at APO. First, I have made some changes to the aposlip script and it does not seem to work now. In particular the box does not seem to be sending out rarp and routing information correctly when aposlip is used. However, I did find out that you can use the default script and it seems to work. Two changes should be made to do this, first, the default script uses compressed slip rather than uncompressed slip so you need to change this on your SLIP panel. Second, the command to start the default script is 'set slip' instead of 'set slip aposlip'. I am begining to think that we should be using the default script instead of the aposlip script. It looks like I was making life too complicated for myself with this script. Use of the default script also appears to allow the system to use both ports at the same time. Apparently only one user can use the aposlip script at a time. Testing with Gretchen is going on as I type this letter. This testing indicates that the default script is definitely the way to go. Gretchen and I are both dialed in, and both running slip successfully. Jim -- Think! It's good practice for when the computer is down. James R.
