New 9 gigabyte drives have arrived for the DA machines at apo. Following is a plan to implement the new disks: 1) Tentative plans call for the disk installation work to take place Sat, Jun 1 through Wed, Jun 4. There will be approximately 12 hours of downtime on each machine as follows: Sat 8am - 2pm fnstar Sun 8am - 2pm fnstar Mon 8am - 2pm sdssmth Tues 8am - 2pm sdssmth Weds contingency There is some urgency in this because we have currently no spare disks at APO. This plan will provide a spare of each kind of disk. 2) At the time the disks are installed we will also upgrade sdssmth and fnstar to Irix 5.3. sdsshost is already running irix 5.3 3) The DA machine file systems on sdssmth, fnstar, and sdsshost will have similar increased sizes as follows: FS Name Size / 30M /usr 570 /tmp 100 swap 300 /p 2 /home .8 /usrdevel 1 /data/MACHINEn 10.5 reserv .5 TOTAL ~16 Gigabytes 4) The systems will have the following devices: HOST FNSTAR SDSSMTH New Spares 1xElite 8.8 1xElite 8.8 2xM1924 2.0 1xD5400 4xM1924 2.0 2xDSP5400 3.8 1xD5400 3.8 1xElite 1xElite 8.8 3xM1924 Total 16.8 16.4 16.6 5) Following are the current devices and file systems: HOST FNSTAR SDSSMTH Current Devices 5xM1924 2.0 2xDSP5400 3.8 4xM1924 2.0 2xW viii 1.4 Total Space 10.0GB 10.4 GB 8.0GB / 20 46 52 58% 20 62 /usr 480 88 516 67 480 88 swap 308 52 300 /usr/local 662 86 /tmp 100 100 /p 1422 94 1350 97 1775 75 /cluster_disk /home 900 16 730 84 500 95 /usrdevel 3750 69 750 4 /cvs 763 0 /data spectro 2500 38 /fnstar1 3800 82 /sdssmth1 2000 60 imaging 1850 47 /sdssmth2 2000 6 scratch 1500 1 6) Following devices retired 2xw viii Kurt Ruthmansdorfer WH6W 6.15 Fermi National Accelerator Lab; ms 234 kurt@fnal.fnal.gov PO Box 500 708-840-8057 pgr 612-0866 Batavia, Il 60510-0500 APO APO APO APO APO Apache Point Observatory 3.5m APO APO APO APO APO This is message 36 in the apo35-dsc archive.
