All,

The DSC is now back at Apache Point. Jon Brinkmann, Mark Klaene, and I
put everything back together. The CCD was cleaned at SITE - the water
damage is reduced but not gone altogether. Modifications were made to
the camera electronics to slow down the readout in an attempt to eliminate
the spurious charge noise. The noise is gone, but there are still some
residual fixed pattern noises in staring and drifting frames.

The current version of DOP is v2_3. Older versions of DOP will not work
due to changes in the electronics. Read the primer page for some
changes and new features. The DOP code is not yet checked in to CVS
due to my lack of understanding of branches still. I have check out
drifting and staring modes and both seem to work. The maximum drift rate
is now .7 sidereal.

The orientation of the CCD is likely different from the last time.
Brinkmann & I could not determine the previous orientation so we just
bolted the dewar to the mounting plate in an arbitrary orientation.
A new instrument block will need to be created.

Merry Xmas.

Steve Kent
